Privacy Statement for Kiddo®
Updated: August 2018
Good Parents Inc. developed this Privacy Statement to inform you of our privacy practices with respect to information collected on the Kiddo application (“Kiddo app”), the Kiddo device, and the device on which you have installed the Kiddo app (“your mobile device”). Please carefully review this Privacy Statement to familiarize yourself with our privacy practices.
Good Parents Inc.’s general Privacy Statement also applies when you sign-in to or create your Kiddo account, when you register your Kiddo device with Good Parents Inc., or when the Kiddo app launches a browser window to access a KiddoWear website (such as when you click on “Buy Additional Bands”). We encourage you to carefully review Good Parents Inc.’s general Privacy Statement, as well.
1. CHILDREN’S PRIVACY
The Kiddo app is not directed to individuals under the age of 16, and individuals under 16 are prohibited from downloading the Kiddo app. Although the Kiddo device is designed to be worn by a child, our licensee with respect to the app is the parent/guardian who has downloaded the Kiddo app and who uses the Kiddo app to sync the data from the Kiddo device to the parent’s/guardian’s account. Parents (or Guardians) must register Kiddo devices and download Kiddo apps to support their use of the app, as well as any use of the device or app by their child. We recognize the importance of protecting children’s Personal Information, and strongly encourage parents and guardians to be actively involved in their children’s online activities.
If you have questions concerning our information practices with respect to children, or if you would like to review, amend, have deleted or stop the further collection of your child’s information, please contact us by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by mail to Good Parents Inc., 169 11th Street, San Francisco, CA 94103, USA.
2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
The following sections describe categories of information, including Personal Information that Good Parents Inc. collects. “Personal Information” is information that identifies a particular individual. If we combine any other information (i.e., information that does not, on its own, identify an individual) with Personal Information, the combined information will be treated by us as Personal Information as long as it is combined.
A. Information You Provide Us
First, we receive and store information that you enter on the Kiddo app. You provide us with your Personal Information when you create an account on the Kiddo app, sign-in using a third party social network account, or contact our product support personnel for assistance with the Kiddo app or device. Depending on the circumstances, the types of Personal Information you provide us may include your name, mailing address, phone number and email address.
You have the choice to provide us with information about your child on the Kiddo app, such as your child’s first name, photo, age, gender, and normal wake and bed times. We collect this information so that you may use the Kiddo app’s features, such as reviewing and managing and reviewing your child’s activities, chores, and rewards.
When you sync the Kiddo device to the Kiddo app, you may also upload information to the Kiddo app concerning your child’s activities (for example, chores, goals) and your child’s activity data (for example, steps, distance, pace, activity time, sleep, etc.) based on data collected by the Kiddo device. We may use such uploaded activity data in an anonymous and aggregated manner that would not personally identify you or your child for purposes of enhancing the quality of our products and applications.
And if you invite another guardian to use the Kiddo app (via the “Family & Guardians” section of the main menu), you will provide us the name and email address of the second guardian. We use that information for the purpose of sending the second guardian an invitation to download the Kiddo app and “join your family.” The second guardian will have an opportunity to review this Privacy Statement before providing us with any additional information.
B. Information Collected Automatically
We also receive and store certain types of information whenever you interact with us. For example, when the Kiddo app is used, we automatically collect information such as device hardware and operating system information. We use this information so we are able to deliver correct content to you and for purposes of account management and product support.
i. Third Party Platform Account Information If you choose to log-in using a social network account, we may collect Personal Information from your Third Party Platform account to the extent such collection is permitted by your privacy settings with the Third Party Platform (for example, name, email address) or otherwise authorized by you. But we do not collect or have access to any password for any third-party account.
ii. Kiddo App Usage and Device Information When you download and use the Kiddo app, we and our service providers may track and collect app usage data, such as the date and time the app on your device accesses our servers and what information and files have been downloaded to the app based on your device number.
iii. Device Storage The Kiddo app stores and accesses information on your device where necessary for the Kiddo app to function and for your convenience (for example, after you log into your Kiddo account for the first time, Kiddo stores a token on your device that enables you to use the Kiddo app without having to log-in every time).
3. USE OF INFORMATION
We use Personal Information for purposes of allowing you to provide or update your account or profile information relating to your family, and to manage your child’s activities, chores and rewards.
We also may use your Personal Information to authenticate you (i.e., to establish that you are authorized to access your account); to communicate with you about your account or transactions with us; to provide you with information about our products and applications; to provide you with customer and product support; and, where consistent with applicable laws and the choices available to you as described in Section 8 below, to send you offers and promotions for our products and applications.
We may use Personal Information (a) for enhancing the quality of our products and applications; (b) for internal statistical, marketing or operational purposes, including generating sales reports and measuring and understanding demographic, user interest, purchasing and other trends among our customers, (c) to notify you of certain changes to this Privacy Statement, and (d) for any other purposes for which we notify you specifically at the time of collection, or as otherwise described in this Privacy Statement, or as permitted or required by law, rule, regulation, subpoena or other legal process.
Please note we may use and disclose information that is not Personal Information for any purpose, except where we are prohibited from doing so under applicable law.
